The recent celebrations marking the Makira/Ulawaprovince’s second appointed has been described as very successful and peaceful.
Makira provincial police commander Richard Hane told Solomon Star that the second appointed day celebration was very peaceful with no major disturbances.
He said the public that witnessed the event behaved well.
“There were no major disturbances, unlawful activities being attended to and reported during the celebration.”
He said the public have enjoyed the programs that have been prepared.
The police commander said despite the peaceful celebration police continued to maintain high security alert in the capital and surrounding community.
Meanwhile Hane thanked the communities and individual for their good behaviour shown during the province’s big day.
He appeals to the community leaders, elders and chiefs to maintain their working relationship with police in future activities in the province.
