A CHRISTMAS Eve raid police executed at White River’s 02 bus stop in west Honiara resulted in the seizure of marijuana and kwaso products.
Police said the raid was executed in response to information gathered that there have been sales and use of illegal drug known as marijuana, and local brewed alcohol known as kwaso at White River 02 Bus Stop.
“Although there was no arrest of any suspects, as they escaped before my officers arrived at the targeted area, a good number of marijuana and kwaso were seized by police from a stall of escaped suspects,” says Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent Barry Rush Saukiu.
“The street value of marijuana and kwaso was about hundred thousand plus,” he added.
“The successful seizure of drugs and alcohol was possible because of good community support information.
“I encourage members of the public and community leaders to assist police as marijuana is illegal to grow, possess, use or sell in our country or export.
“Kwaso it is illegal to brew and distil without an approved license from the Minister responsible, and is illegal to sell any alcohol without a license.”
