The youth market which is currently underway in Honiara has given an opportunity for the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to address youths with useful messages.
Members from the police community policing team have been displaying information through presentations and sharing of crime leaflets and pamphlets to the youths for information purposes when the event started on Tuesday.
Director National Community Policing, Solomon Sisimia told the Solomon Star how important the youth market is as an avenue to speak to youths concerning youth issues.
“The program has gathered more youth audience at one time for police awareness talks.
“It is also a time to deliver to the youths fresh policing up dates for the youths because they are the leaders for today, tomorrow and the future,” he added.
Mr Sisimia said, the youth market is a very good time to spread awareness to youths of this country and the setting up of their stall can be seen in two different possibilities.
“The establishment of our stall is can be viewed in two options.
“Firstly, this youth market event is aligned to the National Youth Policy in down streaming youth activities through various activities which the RSIPF is part to.
“Secondly, the activity is also aligning to the office youth operational priorities towards youths under the project called Police Youth Club and Blue Light Activities,” he told this paper on Tuesday.
Community policing is an on-going program under the RSIPF schedule.
