POLICE will launch the Orange Day Campaign next week to celebrate International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls.
Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga said the event, to be launched on August 25, is sanctioned by the United Nations.
She said the national community policing, on behalf of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), will reach out to public areas promoting the importance of keeping homes free from violence and protect women, girls and children from this kind of behavour.
“This campaign will involve officers from the community policing in Honiara and Guadalcanal where they will travel to Auki, Kirakira and Gizo,” Ms Matanga said.
“A number of officers will also involve in the public campaign awareness and this will involve areas at Central Market, White River, Independence Valley, Namaruka area, White River 02 bus stop, Karaina settlement, Tanagai, Kakabona and Tamboko area.
“Whilst officers are doing the awareness on program, I urged people to come out and participate in program.”
She said it is a good opportunity for people to ask questions on how we can improve services in the community.
