The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be carrying out an operation code name “You and me together” starting today to provide security, law and order in the upcoming national events in the country.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast told media personnel at the weekly police conference yesterday that the operation will be covering the whole of Honiara city jurisdiction and parts of Guadalcanal.
“This is an operation to provide security, law and order during the large number of upcoming national events.”
He said these events include the National Healing and Apology for the Solomon Islands Ceremony which will commence tomorrow and conclude on July 7, the Solomon Islands games which will commence on July 1 and conclude on July 8, the 38th National independence Anniversary celebration which will occur on July 7 and Pacific Island Development Forum meeting which will commence on July 12 and conclude on 13 July and the Melanesian Spearhead Group leaders summit which will convene on July 14.
Mr Prendergast said they will design to make sure the events occur safely and Solomon Islanders can enjoy the events safely and securely.
“You will see high visibility and you will also see police presences at events at where is required as well as normal escorts and traffic operations which will occur as well.”
