THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will not hesitate to arrest anyone who posts inflammatory comments about the current situation on social media.
This was the statement of Commissioner of Police Mostyn Mangau today (5th December 2021) as he warned social media users to stop posting provoking statements that could instigate violence among people.
Mr. Mangau said a recent post on social media stated that every Malaitan is on the list for arrest.
“This is not true.
“Police is carrying out its investigation and will only arrest those who are involved and not the whole Malaita as stated,” the police commissioner said.
Therefore, he warned social media users especially on Facebook to be mindful with what they are posting regarding the recent riot.
“Some people are posting provoking statements that might cause hatred and anxiety among the communities.
“Police will not hesitate to arrest anyone who posts inflammatory comments that are likely to exacerbate the current situation,” Mr. Mangau said.
He said instead of getting people agitated for hidden motives, we should all work together to solve the current situation for the betterment of our country.
