Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Malaita Province Leslie Kili has called for respect and proper dialogue as a way forward to solve grievances in Malaita.
PPC Kili made the call following the action of a Malaita ex-militant James Tatau in Auki on Wednesday.
The PPC said Mr. Tatau got drunk, drove around Auki town, and uttered insults at the public who are supporters of the MARA government.
He said police stopped him yesterday and issued him a warning not to be involved in such unwelcoming and provoking activity in the future.
The PPC said such an approach is unwelcoming and said it is proper for people who have grievances against each other to solve their issues at home and not to display such unnecessary behavior in town to try to prove their point of view.
The PPC said people living in town are innocent and did not want to see such reckless attitudes on display.
On the same note, the PPC said it is important to stay sober, and be involved in dialogue with people that one have grievances against to solve outstanding issues rather than getting drunk and causing disturbance in town as seen demonstrated by Mr. Tatau in Auki on Wednesday.
