POLICE are working closely with health authorities to deal with the matter of the cognitive impaired woman who hit another woman with a rock in Gizo, Western Province, early this month.
At his weekly conference on Thursday, Police Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau said the matter has been reported to the Gizo Police.
“Police in Gizo are now working closely with health authorities in Gizo to deal with the matter,” Mangau said.
He added that at this point in time, investigation is continuing.
Solomon Star had earlier reported on the incident that occurred on April 7 in Gizo in which a mother was rushed to Gizo Hospital for treatment after she was attacked with a rock by a cognitive impaired woman.
The mother was returning home from an Easter weekend church programme when the cognitive impaired woman hit her with a rock.
Prior to the attack, the cognitive impaired woman was teased by a group of male youths.
She then picked up a rock and attempted to shoot the youths when the mother was passing through a road.
It was then that the cognitive impaired woman turned on her, shooting with the rock at close range.
The mother received injuries and was rushed to Gizo hospital just after 7pm for treatment.
