Dear Editor – Quietly observing the political wrangling, it is very interesting to note of the political twists the developed over time.
The coalition of DCC government has only been in place for approximately 286 days, and as yet, they had been trying to put their stake down amidst strong willful interests from within.
All alone no one can deny the ever changing political culture that has been pounding and molding the legislative circle in the highest house of the land.
People’s power had been very active in voicing concerns of national interest, which has impacted on the behavior of citizens and the leaders’ ability to perform political actions and will on their given mandate by the constitution or at least these can be packaged in a box of excuse for our leaders to behave in a certain manner, given the complexity of any human being.
As perceived, the main players within the DCC Government defect that causes the political predicament – rested on the duo; Bodo and Ete. I have high regard for these two MP’s because they are our national leaders; they had proven their worth by championing other contesting candidates during the National General Election, 2014.
Hence, as National leaders they are entitled to the opinions and questions raised by the public over their controversial decisions.
As a constituent and a voter, I wish to call on our Honorable member Mr. Douglas Ete and other members of parliament who defected along with the duo to come forward and explain to their electorates and the nation publically on the reasons for their move from the DCC Government.
As appeared, the allegation over the 1.5 million dollar property purchase leveled against the Prime Minister is baseless and holds no water – it is just lies fabricated to tarnish the image of the PM and to topple the DCC government for their own underlying interests over the ministerial portfolios.
Or is there anything really wrong with the leadership of Sogavare that the nation needs to know; may I ask of you Mr. Douglas Ete?
What could likely be the cause of your action Mr. Ete? To say something like you do not have confidence in the leadership of the Prime Minister is also childish and unfounded – the Sogavare led DCC government had just been in house for a little while and had been the most desired government of the day – why point fingers at the leader of DCC government when you yourself could not fulfill the promises you made to your electorates during your previous four (4) year term?
The public needs to know of the cause of your actions my dear honorable, in doing so it will also reflect well of your leadership qualities and will avoid any misconception towards any of the government ministers from the general public.
As noted, one thing for sure is the questionable act of loyalty and strong allegiance between Bodo and yourself, perhaps this could be due to their matrilineal connection, or who knows – it was quite obvious during the period of the 2014 General election that Bodo was the financier of the Ete’s political campaign.
So it is obvious and befitting that Ete will remain obliged and loyal to Bodo’s interest; more or less a puppet and puppeteer thing. Piecing all this together it is obvious that the action taken by Ete to resign from the deputy Prime Ministers post was done on Bodo’s interest either than that of his own political will and interest in representing us the constituents of East Honiara.
It was quite a relieve to learnt that six (6) ministers from the Independent bench had moved on to the DCC government – their actions shows maturity and wisdom, I would also like to acknowledge them for merging with the DDC government, DCC has managed to bypassed the imminent political upheaval orchestrated by a few selfish and self centered individuals who think they can use the power of money to muddle up and garner the poor people of this nation.
Thumbs up to the six (6) new Ministers, May God bless you and give you more wisdom.
It is also funny to learn that the duo after initiating the defect move, they were even unable to come up with any numerical capacity to move the motion even with the power of money in their possession.
Infact, they have not been in good terms with other vital parliamentarian members due to their underlying and obvious ambiguous interests. Mr Ete, the actions you took on resigning from the DCC government gives the impression that I no longer have any confidence in your leadership on our behalf the people East Honiara.
It is time to reflect and reset the course of our contours – we want a leader who truly represents our interests on the floors of parliament not someone who can be hauled or cowed easily by the power of money.
