SOLOMON Ports has announced it will completely remove all domestic charges to all local vessels berthing at the Honiara domestic terminal for one month.
The fee waiver will come into effect as of next Monday 30th March 2020, Ports said in a statement.
“The removal of all domestic charges will be in force for one month, commencing 30th March and ending on 30th of April,” the statement said.
Ports explained this action is taken to support the government’s request to the general public to repatriate to their respective provinces and islands as the country is embracing the impact of COVID-19 global pandemic.
In light of the reduction to charges Ports also requested all ship owners to reduce sea fares to assist the public to repatriate to their provinces during this emergency situation.
Ports have assured the public that the international terminals will continue, as usual, meaning port of Honiara and Noro will remain open for all essential services.
