THREE passenger vessels repatriating stranded passengers from the provinces are bringing in positive COVID cases into Honiara.
Secretary to Prime Minister (SPM) and Vice Chairman of the National Oversight Committee (NOC) Dr Jimmie Rodgers on Sunday described the
situation as very ‘concerning’.
Speaking during National Oversight Committee Talk Back Show he said three passenger vessels have brought in passengers from Malaita, Isabel and Western Provinces.
“They brought in some positive cases and it’s a concern,” he said.
He fears this might likely to start re-infection in the city.
Most of the passengers have been told to self-isolate at home.
He said in light of the situation a control measure will be in place.
It’s understood prior to boarding, passengers had to undergo a rapid test before traveling.
Meanwhile, the SPM clarified that it’s the COVID cases in Honiara City that have seen a drop in numbers.
