Dear Editor – A subject that had got out of hand and where some writers had to look in all the wrong places to back up their points.
Learned writers such as Gabriel Taloikwai and Steve Waela had pointed out that the frequency of one person to become a Prime Minister more than once might be seen as that person had been a power hungry politician.
But let us take a closer look at the matter to find if that had been the truth or mere twisting of facts to discredit somebody unnecessarily.
According to the above two writers Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare had been labeled as a power hungry politician because he had taken up that same post two times in the past and this current term as Prime Minister would be his third term, so therefore according to those gentlemen that was a proof of a someone who is power hungry.
If that is so; what does the Bible say about power and where does it come from?
Let us look in the Book of Colossians Chapter 1: 16 I am quoting, “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in the earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers : all things were created by Him and for Him”.
This text covers everything and leaves us with no room to guess, to be ignorant, or to be confused, or to beat around the bush when it comes to power, and where it comes from, or who gives it.
And to top it all, power was given by God Himself and not for any other purposes other than for His own glory as indicated in the last five words of the above Bible text.
Let us say that a person can be hungry for power but he or she will never get it unless God allows it.
Manasseh Sogavare’s three terms as prime Minister speaks volumes about whom really God wants to be the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands and when the people of the land prayed for a God fearing leader, the answer always comes back to us loud and clear that Mr Sogavare is that person.
Someone already relay to us in the media on how Mr Sogavare came to be our current Prime Minister.
Of the three candidates for Prime Minister’s post within the DCCG camp at Honiara Hotel, only Sogavare did not spend any one cent for lobbying.
Unlike his two other colleague candidates who spent millions of dollars.
Every night the DCCG camp members received up to ten thousand dollars each during the lobbying time leading up to that camp election.
However, those millions of dollars used for lobbying could not even buy the hearts of the DCCG camp members as God’s choice of a Prime Minister was our current Prime Minister whom did not have to spend even a dollar for this particular lobbying.
In another interesting event of lobbying for the same post between Gordon Darcy Lilo and again Manasseh Sogavare, Mr Lilo stated that whoever would win was the one who have lot of money.
The result turns out in the favor of Mr Lilo himself who was very confident of winning because of the fact that he possessed a lot of money.
Now, do we say that money holds the balance of power for anyone instead of God? Yes, it may seem sometime, but when we take one look at how that Prime Minister Lilo ended up now, I for one, still believe God’s holy word when he said that “all things (including power) were created by Him and for Him”.
Sadly, Lilo became the first ever caretaker Prime Minister to lost a Parliament Seat. I doubt if he will ever come back again.
I won’t be surprise if some or all of the seven (7) deflectors from the DCC Government lose their seats in the coming SI national general election in 2018.
In a previous national general election two prominent leaders had worked against Manasseh Sogavare by fielding two very promising candidates to run against him.
When the results came out Mr Sogavare still retain his seat, but those who had financed and engineered his downfall lost their seats.
Those two prominent leaders perhaps it is best to mention their names here and they were Sir Billy Hilly and Sir Allan Kemakeza.
Sir Allan lost his seat after he had assured the nation in the SIBC radio that he was 99% sure to retain his seat.
There was a third prominent leader who lost his seat as well, but it is enough to mention just the above two leaders for now.
It was the great Bartholomew Ulufa’alu in his wisdom and humble human being who had invited Mr Sogavare to join their camp and allow him to be their candidate for Prime Minister when Sogavare became the Prime Minister straight after the April riots.
If the intelligence of RAMSI failed to predict or fore saw the magnitude of the April riots, thus, was the reason for their ill preparation to contain that riot.
How come Manasseh Sogavare knew about it?
Who is more intelligent in matters of policing, RAMSI or Sogavare? I doubt if Sogavare knew about the magnitude of the April riots beforehand as alleged by the write from Auki and I doubt his real name was Mr Waela.
I was staying with Manasseh Sogavare and his family on the same Sunday that the news media alleged that there was a faction of the defunct MEF namely Baekwatolo came to see him at his home.
I was very surprised and so was the rest of the family members who were there all day yet we did not see, heard or notice any visit at all from any one from the public came to visit on that Sunday.
Yet that fabrication is still being use today in the media by respectable people like Dr Derrick Sikua. Sad indeed.
Well, I just hope that anyone who read this article will know by now if they do not know before that God Almighty appoints people who hold positions of power: Nothing more and nothing less.
