Central Police Commander Jack Balaga has called for public support on investigation in relation to yesterday’s robbery on the Westpac Bank.
Mr Balaga said one suspect escaped which also needs the cooperation of members of the public to apprehend him.
“Three suspects are already in police custody, we are looking for one more and members of the public must cooperate with police by rendering information that may lead to the suspect’s arrest.”
He said such criminality is not welcomed and it can only be dealt with, with the help of the public.
“This is the second bank robbery to be committed in two years; the first was in July 2014, where thieves removed the ANZ Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) machine at Kukum.”
Mr Balaga warned that such robberies will scare off investors therefore; the public must condemn and stand together against such incidences.
He said the robbery yesterday had led to closure of businesses from the innocent public in the remaining business hours of the day.
As such, the PPC appealed to members in the community to assist police in their investigation to arrest those involved.
