THE Malaita Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Leslie Kili, has called on the Malaita public to respect police officers.
PPC Killi made the call after a male police officer was assaulted in Auki recently while carrying out his policing duty.
According to PPC Kili, two boys who were under the influence of Kwaso attacked and wounded a male police officer.
Those boys have since been arrested and released on bail and will appear in court soon.
With that, PPC Kili appeals to members of the public to work together with police to address law and order issues in the province.
He said police exist to uphold law and order and they deserve the respect of members of the public when carrying out their duties.
PPC Kili meanwhile thanked those who continue to work with police maintain law and order here in the province.
