MALAITA Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Leslie Kili has thanked those involved in helping to resolve issues surrounding the murder incident in Baegu Asifola recently.
Speaking during the compensation and reconciliation ceremony held in Auki yesterday, Mr Kili thanked the Member of Parliament (MP) for Baegu Asifola Makario Tagini, MP for Lau Mbaelelea Augustine Auga, MP for North Malaita Senley Levi Filualea, Malaita Provincial Premier Daniel Suidani, officers from the provincial peace office and stakeholders for working together to resolve the tense situation following the brutal killing.
The compensation and reconciliation ceremony was witnessed by representatives from the national government, provincial government, representatives from Beagu Asifola, Lau Mbaelelea, Tobaita, the police and members of the public.
Mr Kili assured the family and relatives of the deceased that police are committed in carrying out a full investigation into the death to ensure those responsible face the full force of the law.
He also thanked those who turnout for the peaceful event adding that peace is the way forward in such a situation.
