PARTICIPATING Police Force (PPF) officers to assist in the forthcoming National General Election next week have arrived in Auki, Malaita Province.
The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Alfred Uiga confirmed this to the paper on Thursday.
He said that about four PPF officers are now in Auki adding more are coming in the remaining days before the Election Day.
“These officers will help the local police officers to monitor the Election Day in the province.
“For us RSIPF, this is a real boost to have such officers here to assist us.
“This is an additional assistance to my force and I hope together with my officers will stand whatever situation that might arise during the election period.
“As a commander for local police force in Auki, I’m well pleased with such support and would like to thank RAMSI for supporting the force in Malaita to ensure security is intact during the election week,” he said.
Uiga calls on good citizens of Malaita Province to respect these PPF officers with the local police officers when going around to carry out their duty at the polling station on the 19th next week.
“We (Police) are there to help us ensure our election is going on peacefully and law and order is maintained in the province.”
