The first day of October each year marks the beginning of World Vision (WV) International’s financial year.
What better way to start than with a day of prayer and team building in each country around the world.
World Vision Solomon Islands staff met together at the SWIM facility Henderson, for this special day.
The theme for this year of God’s Presence was underpinned by a verse from Exodus 33:14-15, where God promises Moses that His presence will go with him, to which Moses
replied “If you presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”
The day began in the morning with prayer and worship, and a message from The international CEO Kevin Jenkins, via pre-recorded DVD, sharing God’s heart for the poor, the disenfranchised and those who were suffering, with an emphasis on World Vision’s commitment to children.
SDA Pastor Fraser Reuben (family, youth & children’s ministry) encouraged staff to recognise that without God’s help through the presence of the Holy Spirit leading and
guiding the work of World Vision would only be human effort, without partnership with God.
Each staff member was reminded that the choice to serve the poor and needy of Solomon Islands was a calling not just a job.
This was a precursor to a time of reflection and discussion on the challenges and the way forward into 2016.
After lunch the day proceeded with friendly, but competitive team sports in soccer, volley ball and team races.
At the end of the day a large trophy was presented to the winning team (Green).
All staff at WV, with their spouses and children left encouraged and tired, but ready to keep persevering with the task of continuing to serve God and our nation.
