THE People’s Republic of China (PRC) has equipped a local club – United Kwara’ae Football Club (UKFC) – with sporting gears as they prepare for their remaining matches of the 2024 Honiara Football Association League.
The timely support consists of 10 soccer balls, 25 t-shirts, a small basket of training equipment and a big basket of training kits and gears.
UKFC Vice President Marketing, Solomon Tabiolo Timmy expressed heartfelt gratitude to PRC for its timely assistance.
Timmy said this assistance will boost the team’s morale as they prepare for the remaining matches of the 2024 HFA Super League which paused during the festive season.
He said this is the first time that UKFC received such huge support from a diplomatic mission.
Timmy said many of their requests for support were unsuccessful.
He said most of these requests were for the provision of training gears such as shoes, uniforms, balls and were made to national leaders.
“We have no training balls and have been only using one or two balls, which are not enough. We also did not have proper training equipment.
“Now with the assistance from the PRC Embassy, we will now be able to use proper gears and soccer balls for training.
“Now that we are back for the remaining 2024 HFA Super League matches, our boys no longer have any issues with soccer balls and training equipment. Thus, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to the PRC Embassy for its timely support to UKFC,” Timmy said
Timmy, meanwhile, called on new and old players of UKFC to return to training in preparation for the matches which will start soon.
He also called on UKFC Executive members to return to Honiara as an executive meeting will be called soon.
Furthermore, Timmy called on the three Kwaraae Parliamentarians – MP for Central Kwara’ae, MP for West Kwara’ae and MP for Aoke-Langalanga – to assist UKFC since it comprises all players and boys from these regions.
“In order to prevent our youth from involving in anti-social activities, sports is one avenue we can be able to engage them.
“The Kwaraae region has the highest population in Honiara and in order to prevent our young people from involving in unwanted activities, our leaders must recognise the benefits of sports to their development,” he added.
