MALAITA Province Premier, Martin Fini, has reassured the national government, international donors and foreign diplomatic missions in Honiara that his government is ready to engage to with them.
Mr Fini made the reassurance at the launching of his government’s Policy Roadmap last Friday in Auki. He initially echoed the sentiment soon after his government assumed leadership in February this year.
“I wish to assure the National Government, particularly the DCGA, international donors, [foreign] diplomatic missions in Solomon Islands and other aid donors that my Malaita New Government for Fundamental Reform (MNGFR) is ready to engage with development partners after the launching of this policy.
“We are open for dialogue and to engage in all forms of development.
“We believe in a collective and inclusive participation – participation without discrimination, harassment, marginalisation or disqualifying a stakeholder that wishes to support Malaita with its key development priorities.
“We welcome our development partners on our shore and wish to assure them that we will work hard to ensure that peace and security is maintained to ensure equal participation in the development of Malaita by all stakeholders,” Premier Fini reiterated.
Premier Fini added that the launching of the MNGFR Policy Translation document is an indication that Malaita is ready to engage with the national government and international donors.
“I therefore, call on DCGA to fast track any remaining outstanding matters, particularly the provision of short-term consultants and budgetary allocations to MEDI to implement the policy,” he said.
