CENTRAL Islands Province Premier, Polycarp Galaigu, has assured the Second Chinese Medical Team (CMT) deployed in the country of his government’s close working partnership with them during their visit to the province.
The Central Islands Province was the first province to host the CMT for a free medical tour outside of Honiara. The tour ran from Monday to Wednesday in the provincial capital, Tulagi, last week.
Whilst assuring CMT of his government’s close working partnership, Premier Gailegu urged the people of his province to make use of the free clinic medical service provided.
The free clinic medical services included ECG, blood sugar testing, blood pressure testing, physical examination and acupuncture diagnosis and treatment with free basic medication prescribed.
CMT also delivered lectures for doctors and nurses at the Tulagi Hospital on basic medical skills.
The team could not proceed to Yandina in the Russell Islands on Wednesday due to bad weather conditions. However, they will make arrangements to travel there on a later date.
Premier Galaigu also requested CMT to extend their services to other parts of the province and the country as a whole.
Meanwhile, the Central Islands Province Acting Health Director, Doctor Lesley Bunabo and his nursing staff have expressed their gratitude to CMT for visiting the province and likewise, Tulagi residents and people from surrounding communities who benefitted from the free medical service.
