VILLAGERS at Marau area in east Guadalcanal constituency have expressed gratitude following a visit by the premiers on Tuesday.
Francis Koburu speaking on behalf of the villagers told the Solomon Star that even though the visit was brief it meant a lot to them.
“Your visit to our area both on land and sea has meant that we are part of your provincial assemblies.
“We have heard of your names on radio and read about it in the newspaper and now we have seen you physically which is a history for this place,” Mr Koburu added.
He believes the visit has opened the minds of the people that they are part of the provincial government system.
He wished the premiers all the best in their deliberation this week.
Local Organizing Committee Vice-Chairman, Vincent Kohata said, the visit was part of highlighting this 8th conference’s theme ‘Community Partnership in Local Economic development.’
“It was important that Premiers must take such visitation to see how rural people are engaging in rural developments in their areas,” he added.
