COMMISSIONER of Police Frank Prendergast has commended Solomon Islanders for helping make Wednesday’s National General Election Day a peaceful one.
Mr Prendergast said that apart from very few minor incidents that Police encountered, the overall election process was peaceful, adding that such would not have happened had it not been for the support of the general public in ensuring Solomon Islands enjoys a peaceful and free election.
“I’m indeed happy with how yesterday turned and finished up.
“This have all been made possible through the cooperation, support and assistance of the general public, especially the communities who have worked hard to help Police and the entire nation achieve peaceful elections.
“Everyone was in good election spirit and took part peacefully in the election process yesterday (Wednesday),” Mr Prendergast said.
Mr Prendergast meanwhile revealed that Police operations will continue right through to the election of the Prime Minister, calling on the public to continue rendering such support toward peaceful elections.
