POLICE Commissioner, Frank Prendergast has praised all members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) for helping maintain a clean, free and peaceful Election Day on Wednesday.
Mr Prendergast said that all RSIPF Officers should be commended for performing extremely well during the tiring but important day in the country.
“I would like to acknowledge all members of the RSIPF for a job well done during yesterday’s (Wednesday’s) Election Day.
“All Officers both in the provinces and in Honiara have done extremely well in helping maintain law and order, and also making sure that Solomon Islands enjoys peaceful elections.
“I would also like to thank my officers for performing at a relatively high standard and demonstrating their professionalism whilst manning each of the polling stations they were assigned to,” Mr Prendergast said.
He also added that such would not have been made possible had it not been for the support of the general public.
“Together the public and the RSIPF have helped Solomon Islands enjoy a peaceful election process,” he said.
He added that such cooperation must continue as Police continue its operation through to the Election of the Prime Minister in the coming weeks.
Members of the Police Participating Force (PPF) have also supported the local force in maintaining law and order over the past days.
