WARDS in Malaita Province have been preparing to host the Malaita 38th Second Appointed Day which will be celebrated Monday next week.
This will be first time for Malaita Provincial Second Appointed day will be celebrated at the ward Level.
This means that population who are living in rural parts of Malaita will have an opportunity to take part in this year’s provincial second appointed day celebration.
It was reported that speeches, feasting and sporting activities will be the highlights of celebrations at some respective wards.
Solomon Star understands that most of Ward Development Committees within the respective wards in the province have already met and confirmed their celebration venue and programs.
Ward 29 and Ward 2 of Central Kwara’ae electorate have already confirmed their celebration venues; Laulana for ward 29 and Aimela for ward 2.
For ward 24 in West Are’Are , the celebration will be at Uhu.
This means that communities of each ward are expected to take part and attend the celebration there.
This year the Malaita Provincial Government has allocated $660,000.00 for each of its 33 ward to mark the special occasion at their various wards.
Each ward is expected to receive around $20, 000 for the event.
According to a media report last week the Malaita Alliance for Rural Advancement (MARA) Executive has made it clear that it is important that people from the 33 wards work together with their respective WDCs and Members of the Provincial Assembly to ensure they mark the day successfully in a meaningful way.
