MAKIRA Ulawa Provincial Police along with the Provincial Disaster Management Office in Kirakira have worked in partnership to monitor the bad weather currently affecting the country.
Kirakira deputy Provincial Police Commander Peter Sitai said, this is to prepare the communities for the upcoming bad weather.
“Provincial disaster committee are on alert to make precaution measures towards any upcoming cyclone,” Mr Sitai said.
Last Friday a week a team was dispatched to the western and eastern parts of Makira to conduct initial assessment.
“The team will survey the villages to see which parts of the province have been really affected by cyclone PAM and their urgent needs.”
He said the team will tour the remaining parts of the province this week.
A report will be compiled after the tour to be submitted to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) for some relief assistance.
