The prime suspect into the LGZ shop double murder case has been finally arrested in Lau/Mbaelelea, Malaita province in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The second murder suspect who was identified as Raymond Keota was successfully apprehended between 4am and 5am, Sunday morning when police shut him down after the suspect____s attempt to evade police arrest failed miserably.
The arrest was confirmed by a source within the investigating team in an exclusive interview with the Solomon Star after the vital arrest on Sunday.
“The arrest was don in the early hours of Sunday morning when police showed up unexpectedly at the suspect____s father inlaw____s house at Faurere village in Lau/Mbaelelea where the suspect spent the night.”
“The second suspect jumped out the window in desperation as he tried his best to evade police arrest, but the police team stood their ground where they obstruct him and successfully arrested him.”
Unlike the arrest of Jimson Goufi who surrendered himself to his tribe____s men and police to face the law for his alleged involvement in the double murder case, the informer said Keota____s arrest was a totally different story.
The successful arrest came after a well collective coordinated move by the police team which was sent down from Honiara to investigate and search for the two suspects.
The Honiara team worked closely with the Auki and Malu____u police.
The source told this paper that the second suspect will be transported to Auki soon before being sent over to Honiara.
When the Solomon Star interviewed a member of the investigating team yesterday around 2pm, the informer said the suspect was detained at the Malu____u police station awaiting transportation to Auki.
It was understood the arrest was a break through as the police now successfully arrested and detained the two key suspects wanted in relation to the high profile double murder case.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) through the police media unit confirmed the second arrest.
“A police operation was conducted in the early hours today (yesterday) and successfully apprehended the second suspect at his home at Fourere, North Malaita.”
The Police Commissioner acknowledged the assistance rendered by the community leaders, chiefs, youths and church leaders for their tremendous support to the Police for the second arrest of the alleged suspect.
“I thank them for their support and understanding,” Commissioner of Police Matthew Varley said.
The statement said the is currently in police custody and will be transferred to Honiara in due course.
“Investigations are continuing. As this matter is ongoing, no further comment can be made at this time,” the police statement said.
