The private sector mini trade show is now underway after it was officially opened on Monday.
Deputy Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Development Forum, Peni Lomaloma officially unveiled the show at the Art Gallery in Honiara.
Many local businesses including members of the Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) are attending the show which will run until Friday.
Mr Lomaloma said he was extremely happy to be part of the trade-show which has brought together many private companies to showcase their products.
He said the private sector plays an important role in the country and it is an important partner in national development.
Mr Lomaloma pointed to the importance of the private sector as equal partners under the PIDF model where they share equal status with the government and the NGOs.
He said the PIDF was established to bring these three actors together with the believe that no one sector in society can deliver the complexities of sustainable development alone.
PIDF is a unique platform bringing together leaders from the public and private sectors and civil society to address regional development challenges, through mutually beneficial innovative partnerships.
Chairman of the private sector subcommittee Leliana Firisua said it is an opportunity where the local businesses mostly from SIWIBA and small and medium enterprises to showcase their products under the theme: ‘Green Economy.’
The trade-show will continue until Friday and since Monday many delegates to the PIDF Summit have already visited and impressed by what they have seen on display at the show-ground.
