THE National Hosting Authority through its Facilities Committee is on track to deliver PG2023 Football Training Field and a replacement for the former SIFF Academy that SIFF surrendered to give way for the construction of the PG2023 Stadium Project funded by the government of the Peoples Republic of China.
This project is multi-donor funded, co-funded by the government and people of Papua New Guinea, the Government and people of Japan and with support from the Solomon Islands government.
The Solomon Islands through coordinated the funding that is channeled through the Sports Solomon Funds managed by the National Hosting Authority of the 2023 Pacific Games.
The Solomon Islands Government through the Sol2023 National Hosting Authority has acknowledged this tremendous support towards the development of the Pacific Games 2023 Football training field/Solomon Islands Football (SIFF) Academy.
The Project which consists of a Multi-Purpose Futsal Court, an office and administration building, a dormitory, two soccer playing and training fields, a changing room and a beach soccer field, is set to be completed August 2023 before the PG2023 opening ceremony in November.
Constructed by JED Enterprise a local construction company, this is the largest SIG Project given to local contractor, providing job for locals as well as building capacity of the local engineers and construction workers.
Most of the construction work are progressing well with civil works and leveling been completed. The superstructure for the Futsal building is also close to completion.
The Futsal building/court at the SIFF Academy will give a boost for the development of the sport in the country.
Solomon Islands as a footballing nation is blessed with the football facilities that will be available for use by youths preparing for the PG2023 and for many years to come.
It is the passion for football that keeps the young people of the Solomon Islands competitively engaged in this sport and the general populace to continue cheering them on.
