INTERIM head coach for the country’s national men’s football squad, Eddie Marahare has announced the 42 provisional football squad, Wednesday.
The provisional squad comprises four goalkeepers, seven centre-backs, four left-backs, four right-backs, eight central midfielders, four left flankers, five right flankers and six strikers.
Most of them are players picked up from the Telekom S-league (TSL) competition.
The selection was by Marahare and another two coaches, veteran national players Stanley Waita and Batram Suri.
Coach Marahare confirmed that there are no players selected from the recent Solomon Cup tournament, however said there are still chances for other players to join.
“The selection was done for players from the current Telekom S-league competition.
“At this stage, we based the selection on the performances of players in the Telekom S-league but room is still open for other players,” he said.
Training for the selected players will start a week after the TSL season ends.
A one-week trial will be conducted which the coaches will use to trim the number of players.
