INVESTING in audit and data collections should be a key priority for any government and development partners.
That’s according to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, McKinnie Dentana at the launching of Capacity-building in Statistics and Audit (CAPSA) Project recently.
“In the long run, investing in audit and data collections should also be a key priority for any government and development partners, especially in this age of modern technological advancement and a data driven world,” PS Dentana said.
The implementing agencies for CAPSA Project are the Office of the Auditor General (AOG) and Solomon Islands National Statistics Office (SINSO).
PS Dentana said the government will continue to support the implementing agencies recurrent and development budgetary allocations.
“This support will continue towards the implementation of the National Statistics Development Strategy in 2025 taking into account forthcoming preparations for the 2026/7 Demographic and Heath Survey, the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey and preparations towards the conduct of the 2029 National Population and Housing Census. For OAG they will need support in addressing their capacity needs,” he added.
PS Dentana acknowledged the investment in the form of technical assistance and capacity building by the World Bank in supporting the OAG and the SINSO to continue to meet their mandate and in progressing the aims of the CAPSA Project.
