The Permanent Secretary for Forestry Ministry, Vaeno Vigulu is confident the bold move with the current undertaking reform within the Ministry is on track.
He noted with significant progress made into the completion of the reviewed agro-forestry regulations this week.
“Reform intentions remain intact and I will make sure that all necessary areas for reforms go through due procedures,” he said.
Vigulu said one fundamental achievement is the completion of the agro-forestry reviewed regulation which now, can be used as guideline.
“This is one achievement for the ministry, on an area that has been manipulated with loopholes because of weak regulations.
“With the complete reviewed regulation I am confident this will put more strict guidelines and safe guard agro-forestry operations within requirements,” said PS Vigulu.
Vigulu said the review regulation has been circulated for feedbacks within the ministry and the attorney general chambers for the final blessing and is set to implement.
He then clarified the former minister; Bodo Dettke’s swift as the Tourism Minister will not be a setback to the reform program.
“He was part of it and we are sure, he will provide that necessary support within his capacity as Minister at their level.”
Mr Vigulu said, he moved but he did not carry the reform program with him, thus the Ministry will do so continued on with it.
“This is a very important reform to an industry that has survived the country for long and is in dire need because it’s operating at an unsustainable rate,” he said.
He said it’s currently an ongoing process of reform and every aspects and areas including staffing will undergo this reform program.
This includes all monitoring mechanisms and regulations, added the Permanent Secretary.
