Chairman of the Law Enforcement Division of Honiara City Council has thanked the public for their good behaviour over the Easter period.
Councillor Charles Aiwosuga said Honiara residents were able to celebrate the Easter peacefully and at the same time maintain the cleanliness of the City.
“There were no major disturbances and I thank everyone for their corporation in ensuring we continue keeping our city clean in accordance with the HCC ordinances,” he said.
“I would like to extend my word of appreciation to the business houses and residents for there continues corporation in upholding the littering ordinances and urge everyone to continue with the exercise,” Aiwosuga added.
Meanwhile the Chairman made an appeal to those keeping pigs in their compound to put a stop to such practices as it is against the environmental ordinance of the Council.
He said, the Law Enforcement Officers will soon issue notices to those concerned.
Aiwosuga further encouraged those living at White River and within the City boundary to maintain the habit of keeping their surroundings clean.
He said the markets at the cemetery were removed during the weekend and warned those around the area to respect the cemetery and to stay away to avoid arrests.
On the same note, the chairman thanked his officers for their efforts in ensuring the Council’s ordinances are adhered to.
Over the long weekend Honiara has witnessed a lot of activities from Good Friday until Easter Monday. This included spiritual programs to sports activities.
