CIVIL Society Groups in Gizo, Western Province are planning a public forum this week following disagreements with the provincial premier over his appointment of the provincial secretary.
A statement from the Civil Society Group in Gizo said the Public Service had initially appointed Jeffrey Wickham to the post.
However, it claimed the premier disagreed and instead self-appointed Christian Salini to the post.
According to the Civil Society, the Public Service Commission appointed Mr Wickham after the job was advertised.
“Following a successful interview Mr Wickham got the job, but the premier dislike the appointment,” the statement said.
It said this had raised many questions over the leadership of the premier.
The statement said many have used the social media to express their views of the premier’s action.
Therefore, it said the planned forums are to address this situation.
“Some provincial members are working along civil society groups to convene an urgent public forum to get views on what to do as a next step,” the statement said.
