QBE insurance international this week donated $43,000 to Solomon Islands Red Cross (SIRC) in Honiara.
The money will go towards assisting the non-government organisation in its relief and humanitarian work in the country.
Krista Galo from the company said its the first time for the company to donate money to Red Cross.
She said the company was excited to help in a small way to support Red Cross and its work in the country.
The money is being deposited into the relief account of Red Cross said Joanne Zoleveke secretary general for SI Red Cross.
She explained that all the donated money which are kept in the relief account is usually on standby to help in humanitarian work.
She explained the money not only assists those who are victims of a disaster but also for other groups like orphans and those who needed help from Red Cross.
Ms Zoleveke also highlighted that the reason why bigger companies step into donate such amounts was because they (SIRC) remain neutral in everything they do.
“We do not take sides with any political issues or whatever is happening in the country, so many organisations have the heart to trust us.”
