Dear Editor – It’s unbelievable to note that there are few teachers under graduate diploma that are being accepted in the SINU School of Education this year that undertake different subjects opposite from their previous teaching subjects they taught during their teaching career.
For example a teacher taught Religious Studies (NTS) for about 10 years but when they fill in the application form they write different subjects codes courses instead of writing Religious Studies but when the acceptance lists released in the media they are accepted under School of Education course graduate diploma teaching secondary sol science and English which are opposite from their teaching subject.
Is this the exact meaning of graduate diploma?
Unless those teachers take short courses online from different university institutions those courses they are applying then they are QUALIFIED UNDER GRADUATE DIPLOMA but in this case their opposites were they never taught the subjects they enroll under.
Or are they accepted because of their experience? When talking about experience they have the vast experience of Religious studies not Sol science and English but how come they are accepted under graduate diploma?
Do they know the content of their teaching subject’s knowledge they are enroll under? Is this what quality education means?
Because when it comes to quality education teachers must be very qualified and know their teaching core subjects contents thoroughly in order to produce quality education and quality learners output.
However, a quality education and quality learner only comes when there’s a principle standard guideline for every institution to uphold in order to produce quality conducive environment learning.
But if there’s wantok system, who you know and under table dealings we would experience this kind of situation and for worse this country would run down.
But how can we achieve quality education standard? Why Ministry of education does want quality education?
Why does SINU School of education and the panel committee selection at SINU act opposite to this motto?
Is this way forward for the country’s educational system?
We can decrease drop outs and unemployment if there’s quality education input to every teacher of this nation then output would be seen.
As been stated by Dr Galo that no more wantok system would be practice in the SINU institutions but why does this mess I’m writing about was overseen?
Is there any proper file recording and check through their CV and certificates, transcripts for graduate diploma?
We are crying and fighting for corruption to stop because this is the only solution to avoid this nation from running down rather if we practice honesty we should exclude from the boundary of poverty in the 3rdworld. Is this what we want and dream about?
Tabs up Solomon Islands National University School of Education to move forward not backward in order to produce quality output performance.
