Inspiration captain calls on SIFF to contact Brazilian club for his release
BRAZIL-based Elliot Ragomo told Sunday Star Sports he is keen to team up with the national futsal team for the 5th Asian Indoor Games in Turkmenistan.
The Kurukuru inspirational captain who is currently on a six months trail with a professional club in Brazil said he is pending a official invitation from the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) for his release.
“I am willing to offer my service to my country just like in previous years.
“Kurukuru is where my heart is but at the moment SIFF hasn’t officially sent me a request to join Kurukuru and I cannot just leave my club to go play without going through proper procedures.
“I would love to play for my country once again but it all depends on my club Minas Tenis clube,” Ragomo told Sunday Star Sports.
Kurukuru coach Jerry Sam earlier this month told Star Sports Ragomo has been included in the current squad.
“Ragomo is in the team but it depends on his availability based on his commitment with his club in Brazil.
“We are planning to have him fly over and meet us in Turkmenistan.
“He is a leader to the team and a role model to our young futsal players,” the Kurukuru coach added.
When asked what it’s like playing and training with a professional club, Ragomo said he adapting slowly to the professional setting over there.
“Over here is totally different level compared to training and everybody have been working really hard.
“If I don’t have the chance to play for Kurukuru in September, I think it’s better for me to stay here and keep going.
“I believe there are few young lads coming in and I hope they can get more experience,” he stated.
The national futsal side are currently training in preparation for the Asian Indoor Games under the watchful eyes of Jerry Sam.
