THE country’s futsal talent Elliot Ragomo has finally full-filled his dream to be part of a professional futsal club.
That dream is very dear for Ragomo because has has done it in Brazil and no other countries.
Being regarded as one of the world’s soccer power house, Ragomo has done his country proud by being the first Solomon Islander, the first Pacific Islander and also a foreigner to be included in the Minas futsal team of Brazil.
The 26 year old is our first international to play professionally with the club.
The 2016 OFC Futsal Championship Golden Ball winner and Kurukuru captain said finally becoming a professional is a surreal feeling.
His achievement comes after 20 years of hard work and sacrifice.
Ragomo has been household name when it comes to Futsal and he has proven himself to be one of the country’s success story.
Since joining the club his main aim was to wear the Minas shirt and have his name written behind it.
And he just did that last week.
Its a dream come true for the futsal star who had been leading the Kurukuru side to a number of Futsal world cup competitions.
The Minas Tenis Clube was also pleased to have Elliot in the team with a hope that he contributes to the success of the team.
Since the announcement of Ragomo’s success alot of Futsal supporters and fans have expressed their gratitude.
Some have also renewed calls for the construction of a new dedicated Futsal court for the code in the country.
Ragomo at times also echoed similar sentiments because this can lead to more players following his journey to stardom.
Yoshiyuki Sato of Y-Sato Marine and Juliano Schmeling must be commended for their support and help in paving the way towards the success of this lad’s dream.
They have sacrificed so much resources and time to ensure Solomon Islands is recognised.
Solomon Islands has a lot of natural talented futsal players and its time the country must realised this and nurture our young talented upcoming players.
Ragomo’s success story is no doubt a driving force for many upcoming futsal players to train hard and excel in the years ahead.
The breakthrough by Ragomo means more local players if properly trained and nurtured will follow Ragomo’s footstep.
Therefore the many futsal competitions that have been organised every now and then must continue.
The Bulk-Shop sponsored futsal league is one such competitions that is opening up the opportunity for our youngsters.
We thank those who are behind these competitions.
We also acknowledged the Ragomo family who are behind Elliot’s journey over the past years until this very day.
Congratulations Elliot and have done the country proud by carrying our flag in Brazil during your time there.
