MAINTAINING and strengthening security, law and order in Malaita province is everybody’s responsibility says Malaita premier Peter Ramohia.
He stated this during the handing over of five newly build correctional service staff houses by the government of Australia to Correctional Service of Solomon Islands in Auki on Friday.
Mr Ramohia said Malaita province is happy to see partnership between Solomon Islands government and Australian to improve housing development for correctional service officers in Auki.
He said such partnership reflects working together and commitment to maintain and strengthen security, law and order in the Malaita province.
“The new Auki police station and staff houses at Tautaumalefo, speed boats, police vehicles, Auki correctional service complex and the five newly build staff houses for Auki correctional services are the marks of working together to bring peace, law and order in Malaita province.
“The government and people of Malaita thank the Australian government for such generous developments in Malaita province.” Ramohia said.
Mr Ramohia said his government is pleased to see Correctional Service of Solomon Islands has grown to international standard as required under the United Nation during past year.
Meanwhile Mr Ramohia assures Australian Government and National government that Malaita province is committed and welcomes development in Auki to ensure government services in Malaita are adequate.
