Malaita Premier Peter Chanel Ramohia has paid tribute to the past leaders of Kiu community in West Are’are.

He reflected on the significant role that the past leaders contribute to the development of the community.
“Kiu has a history of great leaders and I want to say that without these past leaders we will not be here today at Kiu village to celebrate the opening and the handing over of new science laboratory to Kiu Christian Community High School,” Ramohia said.
He said to the people of West Are’are are recognised for producing some of the very important leaders the nation has seen.
Ramohia added Kiu is a historical village to West Are’are people as one of the first villages that accommodated the first formal school in the area back in the 1960s when most part of the island still don’t know about education.
He said many of the current leaders of Are’are are inspired by the old leaders from Kiu community.
