Malaita provincial premier Peter Chanel Ramohia will have an informal meeting with all Honiara-based Malaitans this evening.
The meeting will be held at the Multipurpose Hall starting 5pm till late.
The Malaita premier who is a regular contributor on Facebook and has a good public relationship with the public will address all Honiara Malaitans as a way of engaging the people of Malaita in the governance of the province.
The premier will make a presentation on the MART (Malaita Alliance for Reform and Transformation) and plans to move the province forward with the active participation of all Malaitans throughout Solomon Islands.
This is also a follow-up meeting of the Malaita development summit hosted by the Malaita conference recently.
The premier will highlight some of the plans to engage all Malaitans in the process of governing and developing Malaita, now and into the future. He will then engage the Malaita people of Honiara in a dialogue that should help shape any development plans and strategies now in place.
The meeting is scheduled to take a few hours and all Malaitans in Honiara are invited to attend this important meeting.
The premier and his executive and some ordinary members are willing to listen to advice and beneficial contributions from all Honiara Malaitans.
He will give time for all Honiara Malaitans who want to express their views as to how Malaita as an integral part of Solomon Islands should benefit from its contribution to the national development process.
The premier believes in people participation in the development process and regards this meeting as a very important time to hear what the people of Malaita living in Honiara with all the benefits in services and economic can do to help Malaita move from the doldrums into a vibrant economy that will bring Malaita to an acceptable level of benefits that matches economic productivity and a better standard of living that will boost health, education and economic development.
The premier hopes that all Malaitans living in Honiara will take the time to meet him and utilize this golden opportunity to touch base with its other.
He pointed out saying: “Although you live in Honiara and seem to forget about Malaita most of the times, one day you will wish that the services you do enjoy in Honiara will be available to you when you do choose to come home, alive or dead!
“It is common knowledge that the services on Malaita are very poor and that the provincial government should do something about it. It is not just the government that is failing in this aspect. It does not make sense when Malaitans are working their guts out to develop other parts of the country, especially Honiara, when our home is being neglected. The time is now right and it is here that Malaitans now have the knowledge, skills and even the money to develop Malaita. What or who are we waiting for? The country may need us but Malaita needs us more,” said the premier.
The meeting will commence with a welcome followed by a time of Christian fellowship and then the presentation by the premier and discussions after that.
As the meeting will take a few hours participants are requested to bring your own drinks and snacks to keep your sugar levels up, it was highlighted.
