RAMSI Special Coordinator, Quinton Devlin, discussed RAMSI’s drawdown and support to the RSIPF with members of the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SICCI) at the Heritage Hotel in Honiara on Friday.
Noting that RAMSI was today solely a policing assistance mission, Devlin highlighted the enormous progress made the by RSIPF since 2003, including towards limited rearmament, and the support of the Solomon Islands Government for RAMSI’s scheduled withdrawal in mid-2017.
The Special Coordinator also explained that Solomon Islands, Australia, New Zealand and other Pacific Islands Forum members were discussing what type and shape of regional police and security assistance would be delivered bilaterally after RAMSI departed.
