RC Nicholson College in South Vella, Western Province has reaffirmed its commitment to achieving higher academic standards and fostering excellence among students, as it looks toward a future of sustained progress and development.
During the school’s annual graduation ceremony recently, the school administration outlined a strategic plan aimed at improving student outcomes through enhanced teaching methodologies, rigorous assessment frameworks, and greater community involvement.
Principal of the RC Nicholson College, Lawrence Zaza emphasized that the college’s core mission is to not only help students pass exams but also to cultivate critical thinking, leadership, and social responsibility.
“Equally share with you as a giveaway information, is the academic progresses of the school. The school is pleased to let you all know that there has been a positive trend in our academic output since the commencement of my leadership from 2008.
“In expansion to the need and demand on science streams in the senior level aligning to the career pathways for our students, the school has established its first form 6 science in 2020. This after a long unsuccessful record on Form 6 arts only in the school for a long period of time prior to 2018.
“Since then, the science department has been stable with the provision of some equipments and chemicals for the laboratory for the senior students brought for the school by Rutter family of England,” Principal Zaza said.
Zaza said two years later the school management expanded its vision to established the secondary based foundation year in our school.
He said the school based foundation year of Form 7 being the latest highest level of learning in the RC Nicholson College.
“We are proud that we are one of the only two secondary schools in the western province to accommodate the School Foundation level or Form 7 bringing windows of opportunities for the universities and tertiary studies to your door steps.
“So current Form 7 student are the third group of successful students to be in the foundation year in the history of the school.”
He said this semester one result of their current foundations, students showed tremendous results with most students have GPA not less than 3.0.
According to SAETESA Secretary, RC Nicholson Foundation students have the potential to acquire direct scholarships from the school if their students keep maintaining their GPAs through hard work to reach this level to acquire scholarships from in RC Nicholson College.
“With these efforts, RC Nicholson College aims to elevate its status as one of the leading institutions in the Western Province, inspiring students to dream big and aim high,” Principal Zaza further added.
As the academic year progresses, the school are confident that the changes being implemented will yield lasting results for both students and the community.
