Real Rarasu football club has booked its place in the Auki Football League (AFL) grand final after beating Aimela FC in a penalty shootout after a dramatic 2-2 draw after full time at Aligegeo field in Auki Malaita province.
Real Rarasu and Aimela are both looking to secure a place in the AFL 2017 final when Aimela FC falls short in the hands of the current league title holder in a penalty shootout 3-4.
Of the five first penalty attempts, both teams scored three goals each where they both missed two penalties which forced the two teams into a second round penalty attempt to find the winner.
Thats when Real Rarasu FC come out the winner after their penalty taker converted the wining penalty to win the match 4-3 to deny Aimela a grand final spot.
Real Rarasu will now take on GB United FC in the grand final of the Auki Football League this coming Saturday – 13th of May at the Aligegeo field.
GB United FC on the other hand, has marched to the grand final without playing any semi-finals after Ailako FC one of the teams in the top four was kicked out of the competition after their fans invaded the field during the Auki Football League decider between the Real Rarasu and Ailako which Ailako lost it 1-2 in favour of Real Rarasu FC.
Meanwhile, on the bottom four teams of the Auki Football League, AYC FC booked its place in the grand final after beating Coastal Warriors FC 4-3.
AYC FC will now take on Habour Lights after beating AC Stars in other semi-finals 2-1 to book their place in the grand final of the bottom four teams.
All the finals will also be held at the Aligegeo field this Saturday.
