Local resort receives token of $50k
GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has rescued local resort, Urilolo Resort in North Vella La Vella, Western province with SBD$50,000 to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Urilolo Resort is one of the accommodation providers in Western Province which had been affected by the recent COVID-19 outbreak which saw a decline in visitors’ arrival in the country in the past two years.
With the funding support the money has been utilized for the rehabilitation of the resort’s accommodation, footpath and other facilities within the resort.
Owner of the Urilolo Resort Rollstone Matiuru was relieved and thankful to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the support.
“I thank the Government through the Ministry of Tourism for the token of funding to boost local tourism operators like me in the provinces,” he said.
It was few weeks ago, that the funding support was handed over to Mr Matiuru.
“I’m very happy to receive the token of $50,000 from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is wonderful to know the Government has been very supportive to the tourism sector which is a boost especially by looking and addressing the needs for local tourism operators in the provinces who are struggling over the past years.
“This support had helped towards the rehabilitation and upgrading my resort’s accommodation and facilities,” he said.
He said, the funding support is a boost to local tourism operators like him and shows government’s recognition to the tourism sector in the country.
He described government’s support as very timely given the number of international and local guests have started arriving since the reopening of the international borders in July.
“The support had helped to facelift my resort making it more attractive and beautiful for guests and tourism to enjoy their leisure time here.
“Thank you government for the support,” Matiuru said.
Now he is looking forward for the arrival of more guests.
Meanwhile, Urilolo Resort continues to receive number of international and local guests, representatives from various ministries and organizations who have been using the resort for workshops, trainings and having a break.
