SOLOMON Islands Red Cross Society (SIRCS) on Friday commemorated World Red Cross Day in Honiara on the theme “Everywhere for Everyone”.
SIRCS communications officer Kennedy Waitara said the theme reflected on how Red Cross can help people.
“…where ever you are, whoever you are, we the Solomon Islands Red Cross Society will be there and will always be there to help,” Mr Waitara said.
SIRCS used the day to promote the work of its volunteers and the important tasks they played to help the vulnerable.
Mr Waitara said SIRCS volunteers are always there to help people in need.
“We are to help humanity,” he said.
SIRCS also promoted the services offered by the different divisions within the organisation with talks and demonstrations on first aide and disaster.
“These talks and demonstrations are to explain to the public about our work during disaster situations, disaster risk reduction and disaster preparation,” Mr Waitara said.
School students, non-government organisations and members of the public were part of Friday’s ceremony.
