Two family members of the new Archbishop elect, Bishop Christopher Cardone, OP arrived in the country on Monday ahead for bishop’s installation program.
Some of the guests who arrived were the special guest for the installation, who was the retired archbishop of Gizo Western province, Bishop Bernard O’p Granty from Australia who spent almost 30 years doing religious work in Solomon islands, Sr. Mary Mc Carthy PBVM Religious education coordinator CBC in Papua new Guinea (PNG) and Solomon islands, the superior of the Silesian sister, Sr. Edner Mari and Fr. Moses Paluku SDB from Congo, Africa.
The family members were the Archbishop elect’s father, Mr Nunzio Cardone aged 87, an active lawyer and an outstanding intelligence Catholic leader who was his fourth time to visit Solomon Islands and Bishop elect step mother who was her first time in Solomon islands.
During their arrival they were garlanded by the pastoral council installation committee and welcomed with the melody sound of panpipe from the Tarawasiwa cultural panpipe group of south Malaita.
They are being accommodated at the Heritage Park Hotel waiting for the upcoming installation program this coming Saturday.
More family members and invited guest are expected to arrive today and Friday this week.
