The loading of relief supplies to be distributed to disaster affected areas in Malaita Province is currently underway at the Point Cruz wharf, in Honiara.
A visit by the Solomon Star to the Point Cruz Wharf yesterday witnessed a group of casual workers loading the food supplies into the ship.
A chartered vessel will depart to distribute food supplies to areas that were affected by cyclone Pam that struck few parts of the province last Month.
This was the second batch of relief supplies to be distributed to disaster affected areas in the country; the first vessel has already left for Temotu Province and is expected to be back anytime soon.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has declined to make comments concerning this arrangement for some security reasons.
However, they said they are preparing a press release to be given to all media outlets in the country when the vessel leaves for Malaita Province.
This is for the safety of their humanitarian workers or casual employees.
The time of departure for the chartered vessel is not confirmed.
