The Renbel province will be the next host of the Solomon Games in two years time.
This was declared by the Deputy Prime minister Manasseh Maelanga at the close of the 2016 Solomon Games on Sunday.
“Renbel province will be our next host and my Ministry will work together with you make another successful one in 2018,” Maelanga said.
He added that this is mainly to prepare our athletes for the 2023 Pacific Games which will be hosted here.
“We want you to go there and in 2020, the games will be back here in Honiara city again.”
Deputy premier Eric Saveha told Star Sport that he was very happy with declaration to host the 2018 Solomon Games there.
“We are preparing for that games and we hope to make a successful and enjoyable one for all the athletes there,” Saveha said.
“We have learnt a lot from this one here, and I am confident that my province will do better in 2018.”
Saveha added that he wants everyone to come and enjoy their time out there and enjoy the environment in his province.
“All are welcome in 2018 there.”
He said that the province will be working together with the responsible authorities to make sure they provide to a standard that all the athletes will never regret at the end of the day in terms of facilities.
“We are confident to make a better one in 2018,” Mr Saveha said.
