THE people of Santa Anna Island of East Makira Constituency in the Makira Ulawa Province tussle over who should be their candidate to replace their late Member of Parliament, Charles Maefia.
The late East Makira MP who was elected into the National Parliament only on April 3 died in Honiara following a short illness.
And although the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission in Honiara has yet to decide on a date to hold a by-election, Santa Anna elders and their people have told our Kira Kira correspondent that they have already started looking for a person who will be their candidate in the by-election.
The East Makira Constituency consists of Santa Anna and Santa Catalina Islands off the eastern tip of Makira, Star Harbor, Rawo and Wanione.
And those who have represented the constituency included late Benedict Kinika (Wanione), late David Sitai (Santa Anna/Star Harbor) and Alfred Ghiro (Wanione) who lost the seat on April 3rd National General elections to late Maefai.
