The Honiara City Council has encouraged those who experienced unfair pricing or being overcharged by buses or taxis (public transport) to contact the Law Enforcement Unit for further action.
There have been reports that certain shops have hiked their prices very high following last week’s riots, whilst in one case, a bus had increased its fare to $5 from the usual $3.
But the HCC said victims of over-pricing should take photos of the goods and the shop selling them and bring them as evidence to the HCC Law Enforcement.
On buses and taxis who may be overcharging passengers, the HCC requests that the public takes the number plate, time and where they take the transport & it drop off point.
Any complaints can be made to the HCC Law Enforcement Unit on 7991999.
